Question by ……….: My Dad’s friend has a major drinking problem. Do you know any good ways to get his friend to stop drinking….
or possibly send him to rehab. My dad has tried to convince his friend to stop but has failed. This guy in in total denial and doesnt even realize he has a drinking problem. It’s gotten to the point where he is starting to have liver problems but denies it and wont go to the doctors under any circumstances. Can you think of a way to help this guy?

Your dad is a grain of sand on a large beach of people who had tried to get the ones they love to stop drinking / doing drugs. Someone I knew drank to a point where his liver was damaged and then was lucky enough to get a liver transplant. Guess where he was found the following week ? (Did you say ‘At a bar?’)
Addiction is a symptom of deeper problems that are not healed overnight. However, long term patience and love can be useful in the process.
