These answers come from my own checkered past, not from research. Keep in mind that “overdose” only means to take more than the recommended dosage, it doesn’t imply any adverse health effects, but I’ll pretend to know what you meant:
1. Oxycodone. The difference between a safe dose and a dangerous one is slim, especially if mixed with alcohol.
2. Acetaminophen. Even a slight overdose of this can cause severe liver damage.
3. Similar to the reason a person would view crack cocaine as a dangerous drug but use powder cocaine on a regular basis. Biased media coverage and the image it creates.
4. The amount needed for a dangerous overdose is calculated in milligrams of the drug per kilogram of body weight, so it is unique to each individual.
5. I have overdosed for pleasure many times. I’ve watched my shirt jump from my heart pounding so hard and I’ve thought to myself, “You may have messed up this time.” My addiction was cocaine and my reason went something like: “If this much makes me feel great, think of how great THREE TIMES that much will make me feel.”
